Police looking for man on probation charge

Hagerstown City Police were on the lookout for Robert John Summerville III for whom they have a Washington County Circuit Court warrant for violation of probation on theft and cocaine possession charges.

Summerville is 21 years old and described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was 801 Hamilton Blvd.

Police asked that anyone with information on Summerville's whereabouts call them at 301-790-3700 or Crime Solvers of Washington County at 301-733-4141.

Pistol, DVDs stolen from area home

The Washington County Sheriff's Office received the following calls Tuesday:

  • One handgun and 22 digital video discs were taken from a home in the 12000 block of Wolfsville Road. When police responded at 7:47 p.m., they found the DVDs as well as a .357-caliber magnum Smith & Wesson pistol were missing. Total value was listed at $750.

  • Police found at 2:22 p.m. that a 1,000-watt amplifier and two 10-inch speakers were stolen from a Nissan 300 ZX that was stuck in a snow bank. The car was found in the 10100 block of Academy Drive.

  • At 5:03 p.m. police responded to a home in the 16500 block of Virginia Avenue at Homewood Retirement Center, where jewelry and money had been taken. No value for the items was available.

Three robbers sought by Hagerstown police

Hagerstown police are looking for three men involved in two separate robberies early Wednesday morning.


Police said both robberies occurred between 1:15 and 1:30 a.m. The robbers took cash and a walkie-talkie.

One robbery took place in the 100 block of East Washington Street, and the other was at the Central City Parking lot behind 44 E. Washington St.

The men were described as following:

  • A black male; 6 feet, 1 inch; 150 pounds; wearing a black ski mask.

  • A black male; 5 feet, 10 inches; 205 pounds.

  • A black male; 5 feet, 9 inches; 160 pounds.

    All three were last seen running west in the parking lot toward Potomac Street.

Police said the men did not display a gun, but they threatened to do so. No one was injured, police said.

Police said passing motorists in the area may have seen the incident, and they ask anyone with information to call Detective Shane Blankenship at 301-739-5877, extension 246, or the Criminal Investigation Division at 301-790-3700, extension 234.

Pa. man charged with negligent driving

Maryland State Police have charged a Claysburg, Pa., man with negligent driving in connection with an accident Tuesday night involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown.

Police said Theodore Adam Harclerode, 32, of Claysburg, Pa., was driving his Mack tractor trailer westbound on I-70 when he hit a patch of ice or snow on the bridge over Downsville Pike, causing the tractor-trailer to jackknife across the interstate.

The driver of a pickup directly behind the rig was unable to avoid the collision, police said.

Carroll Lee Routzahn, 59, of Falling Waters, W.Va., was taken to Washington County Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday night.

Md. residents charged with drug possession

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick city police said two people were charged in connection with a search officers performed that turned up marijuana.

Police charged James David Majette, 26, and Kari Ann Shipe, 24, both of 34 Livingstone Terrace, with one count each of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A booking officer at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center said both were released on their own recognizance.
