Local colleges return to action

With the weekend's snow storm continuing to stack up local sporting events higher than shoveled piles, some of the colleges will attempt to get back to normalcy today.

Hagerstown Community College and Shepherd College will resume their seasons with makeup games today.

The HCC men's team will host Baltimore in the first round of the Maryland JuCo Conference tournament at 7 p.m. at the school's athletic complex. The game was orginally scheduled to be played Tuesday.

The men's game will follow the HCC women's matchup with Howard at 5 p.m.

Both HCC teams are attempting to advance to the final eight, which will be played at one site. The men are trying to advance to Frederick Community College while the women are playing for the right to advance to the weekend games at Garrett.

Shepherd College's doubleheader with West Virginia Wesleyan was postponed for a second day on Tuesday and rescheduled for today.


Shepherd's women will open the twinbill at 5:15 with the men following at 7:30. Both Ram teams are coming off impressive wins over Davis & Elkins on Saturday.

S. Fulton playoffs

Southern Fulton's basketball teams will host their first-round District 5 playoff games on Thursday and Friday.

The boys host Turkeyfoot on Thursday while the girls face Turkeyfoot on Friday. Both game s begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $2 for students and $4 for adults. No pass will be honored.
