Dimitra L. Billman


DEBARY, Fla. - Dimitra Landers Billman, 79, of 103 Clairmont Ave., and formerly of Day Road in Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Central Florida Regional Medical Center in Sanford, Fla.

Born Sept. 21, 1923, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Sam Sotir and Evdxia T. Likadia Eftim.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown Community College.

She was a member of People's Gospel Tabernacle.

She was a member of VFW Post 1936, where he was representative on a state and regional level. She also was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary and Loyal Order of Moose, and volunteered for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She is survived by eight daughters, Carol Martin of Lancaster, Pa., Linda Winebrenner and Kimberly Swope, both of Waynesboro, Pa., Crystal Denlinger of Walkersville, Md., Jacqueline Crabtree, Frances Wade and Cheryl Green, all of Hagerstown, and Darlene Billman of Big Pine Key, Fla.; three sons, Jerry Whiteside of Murfreesboro, Ark., Jack R. Billman Jr. of Concrete, Wash., and William O. Billman of Hagerstown; 34 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Chester A. Billman; and two sisters, Mary E. Best and Jennie Bright.

Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald Kretzer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




James K. Leigh


CLEAR SPRING - James Kenneth "Jim" Leigh, 64, of 11930 Boyd Road, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 22, 1938, in Clear Spring, he was the son of Leila V. Long Leigh of Hagerstown, and the late Lewis F. Leigh.

He attended Hagerstown Junior College, Penn State Mont Alto, Michigan State University and Cornell University.

He was employed with Coldwell-Banker as a Realtor, and had been employed by Mack Trucks for 37 years, retiring in 2000 as manager of human resources.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Valley Grace Brethren Church.

He was past president of Clear Spring Ambulance Association, a member of Mack Management Club, and a former volunteer with United Way of Washington County. He was a graduate of Leadership Hagerstown.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bonita "Bonnie" McKenzie Leigh; one daughter, Nicole S. Hawkins of Hagerstown; one son, Michael S. Leigh of Hagerstown; one sister, Linda L. Nott of Hagerstown; one brother, Ronald G. Leigh of Hagerstown; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, James K. Leigh Jr.; and one brother, Edwin Leigh.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Revs. Daniel J. Pritchett and Jonathan D. Laye will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bruce L. Blackburn


Bruce Lee David Blackburn, 56, of Beverly Health Care, Hagerstown, and formerly of Price Road N.E., Little Orleans, Md., died Friday, Feb. 14. 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Christian Cemetery, Artemas, Pa.




Jean A. Johnson


Due to inclement weather, the services for Jean Ardell Johnson scheduled for Sunday will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Maranatha Church of God, Frederick, Md. The Rev. Jerry A. Price will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

A viewing will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the church.




Susan B. Elgin


WAYNESBORO, Pa.- Susan Blocher Elgin, 56, of 3118 Leitersburg Road, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at her home.

Born April 22, 1946, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Henry and Nancy Meade Blocher.

She was a graduate of Frostburg State University with a BS degree in education.

She was a former employee of C.E.F. of Franklin Co., Pa.

She was a member of West End Baptist Chapel in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William J. Elgin; two daughters, Joy L. Gould of Waynesboro, and Michelle M. Russell of Baugio, Philippines; three sons, William T. Elgin of Greencastle, Pa., Matthew J. Elgin of Chambersburg, and Samuel A. Matson of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Thomas H. Blocher of Souix Falls, S.D.; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Revs. Shane Wilt and James Brinkley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
