Virginia G. Klein


Virginia Gertrude Klein, 82, formerly of 1610 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.

Born March 23, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Calvin W. and Ruth M. Rider Sheeler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Klein.

She was employed by Fairchild Industries.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a sister, Frances S. Rupp of Hagerstown, and a brother, Calvin W. Sheeler Jr. of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph A. Sheeler.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742, or Hospice of Washington County, Western Maryland Center, 3rd Floor, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Mary C. Flynn


Mary Catherine Flynn, 93, of Julia Manor Nursing Center, Hagerstown, and formerly of 309 E. Potomac St., Brunswick, Md., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1909, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Irene Mae Lantz Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Harper Flynn, in 1967.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick.

She is survived by two sisters, Frances Sheffer of Middletown, Md., and Marie Mallott of Hagerstown; a brother, C. Edwin Barnes of Williamsport; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys S. Hollinger.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Bruce W. Barth will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ray G. Blair


The family of Ray Gilbert Blair, 71, of Hagerstown, who died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.

The time was changed due to inclement weather.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Pastor David Sword will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.




Evelyn I. Beard


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Evelyn I. Beard, 87, of 1060 Lincoln Way East, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 14, 1915, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harvey C. and Bessie Stine Beard.

Early in her life, she had worked at the South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, Pa., and had worked last for a nonmedical home care service.

She is survived by a stepsister, Katherine Pensinger of Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Austin B. Myatt


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Austin Brock Myatt, 83, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 2, 1919, in Bombay, India.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Myatt.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Allied Forces in the Indian Army and retiring as a colonel.

In 1965, he immigrated to the United States and became an American citizen.

He was a Christian.

He was a member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club.

He is survived by a son, John Myatt of Charles Town, and a grandson, Tyler Myatt of Charles Town.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County, 334 N. Lawrence St., Charles Town, WV 25414.

James B. Snyder


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - James Brown Snyder, 34, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Adams County, Pa.

Born Oct. 17, 1968, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of Sherman E. Snyder of Fayetteville and the late Patricia Ann Curfman Snyder.

He was a 1988 graduate of Gettysburg High School, Gettysburg, Pa.

He worked at Quebecor World, formerly Arcata Graphics, in Fairfield, Pa., for 10 years.

In addition to his father, his is survived by two sisters, Shelvy Keiser of Denver, Pa., and Melanie Auten of Gettysburg, and four brothers, Sherman E. Snyder Jr. and William Snyder, both of Gettysburg, Hubert Snyder of Hanover and Randy Snyder of Guthrie, Okla.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peters Funeral Home, Gettysburg. Pastor Lifus Riffe will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

FREDERICK, Md. - Kathryn Virginia "Katz" Mercer Daugherty, 91, of Frederick, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Crumland Farms, Frederick.
