Businesses nominated for awards

The fourth annual Washington County Business Awards Banquet will be held Wednesday, March 5, at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center at Antietam Creek in Hagerstown beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The banquet is a joint effort of the Chamber and the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission.

Sponsors of the event include First Data Merchant Services and Antietam Cable TV, F&M Bank and Trust, Fujicolor, Garden State Tanning, Hagerstown Trust, and Wachovia Securities, Associated Engineering Sciences, Inc., Hub Labels, Inc., Waypoint Bank and Horizon Goodwill."

The Washington County Business Awards celebrate the best in local business. Nominations were gathered from hundreds of local businesses and individuals. Seven winners from various business categories will be recognized.

The list of categories and the honored finalists follows in alphabetical order:

  • At Your Service Award: Holiday Inn Express-Hagerstown, Sam's Club, Washington County Arts Council

  • Entrepreneurial Award: Aviation Resources, Beaver Creek Country Club, Verestar Government Services

  • Going Global Award: Garden State Tanning, Hub Labels, P&D Creative

  • Innovation Award: Crist Instruments, Mack Trucks, WARX/WARK

  • Made In Washington County Award: CertainTeed, HBP Inc., Hub Labels

  • Vision Award: Associated Engineering Sciences, Inc., Callas Contractors Inc., Hub Plaza

  • Work Force Development Award: Ellsworth Electric, Hub Labels, Susquehanna Bancshares

The Capitol Steps will provide entertainment. The Capitol Steps is a professional troupe of current and former congressional staffers who monitor events and personalities on Capitol Hill, in the Oval Office and in other centers of power and prestige around the world, and then take a humorous look at serious issues.
