The Ridenours

Emory W. and Ivy M. Ridenour of Hagerstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at a buffet luncheon held at the Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378. The event was hosted by their sons and spouses, W. Lee and Rosalie Ridenour and Dennis and JoEllen Ridenour. Family and friends shared memories of past and present.

The Ridenours' pastor, the Rev. Don Wilson of the Evangel Assembly of God, gave the invocation, a short meditation and read a poem that he and his wife, Cheryl, had written about the Ridenours.

The Ridenours were married Saturday, Dec. 11, 1942, at the Lutheran Church in Middletown, Md., by the Rev. Donald F. Brake.

Mrs. Ridenour is the former Ivy M. Reed, daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Long) Reed. She was employed as a food service worker at Williamsport High School until her retirement.


Mr. Ridenour is the son of the late Milton and Edith Wissinger Ridenour. He retired from the sheet metal shop at Jamison Door Co.

They have one grandson and two great-granddaughters.

The Hoovers

Stanley and Ravenna "June" Hoover celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 17515 Olde Stone Court for an "Evening on the Deck." The surprise event was hosted by their daughter and spouse, Cheryl and Steven Wolfensberger, and grandchildren and spouse, Corey Wolfensberger and Tara and Phillip Myers. Family and friends gathered to enjoy an evening of food, music and reminiscing.

The Hoovers were married June 8, 1952, at Grace United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Rider.

Mrs. Hoover is the former June Sponseller. She formerly worked for the telephone company, for Dr. George Jennings and for Fairchild. Her time is now spent helping her 91-year-old mother, Helen G. Sponseller.

Mr. Hoover formerly served in the U.S. Air Force, then retired from Potomac Edison Co. (now Allegheny Power).

The Wolfensbergers

Charles "Pete" and Daisy Wolfensberger of Hagerstown were honored at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Mack Truck Union Hall, Maugans Avenue, Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their son and spouse, Steven and Cheryl Wolfensberger, grandchildren and friends Rose and Wallace Malkiewicz. Family and friends enjoyed an evening of dining and music.

The Wolfensbergers were married Oct. 10, 1952, at St. Matthews United Brethren Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Lester Deter.

Mrs. Wolfensberger is the former Daisy Montgomery. She retired from M.P. Moller.

Mr. Wolfensberger formerly served in the United States Air Force, then retired from General Motors in Martinsburg, W.Va.
