Career education day scheduled for Friday

The Learning Community of Hagerstown Community College and Washington County Public Schools will host the third in a series of career education days for high school students Friday.

Students will be given information about career paths in computers and information technology through speaker presentations, laboratory activities and opportunities to visit with representatives from various four-year colleges and universities.

Topics to be discussed include networking, programming, digital media arts and engineering technology. Informal discussions with students and speakers will take place during lunch. School counselors and teachers select approximately a dozen students from each county public high school to attend.

'Alice in Wonderland' show slated for Feb. 16

Hagerstown Community College's Student Program Board will sponsor the National Marionette Theatre's performance of "Alice in Wonderland" Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. in the college's Kepler Theater.


The National Marionette Theatre, which has been in existence for almost 35 years, tours coast-to-coast with programs for adults and children.

Admission is free and the public is invited. No advance tickets will be issued.

Medication training sessions are scheduled

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education will present a six-hour course on medication training for assisted living. The Maryland Board of Nursing now requires medication assistants listed in its registry to complete a clinical update every two years. This course will meet the needs of the new requirement.

The daytime course will be held on the main campus in the Advanced Technology Building Tuesday, April 15, and Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The evening course will be Tuesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 24, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The fee is $39 and the lab fee is $10. Participants must provide a copy of their registry listing from the Maryland Board of Nursing Web site to the instructor at the start of class.
