Local roundup - Spartans wilt under pressure

THREE SPRINGS, Pa. - Southern Huntingdon used pressure defense to blow open the game with a 23-12 third quarter Saturday to take a 61-43 victory over injury-depleted McConnellsburg.

McConnellsburg dressed only five as two players sat out with ankle injuries. The Spartans also played without coach Audrey Hall, who missed the game because of the death of her mother.

Southern Huntingdon forced McConnellsburg into 22 turnovers in the game.

Jade Anthony led McConnellsburg with 14 points while Molly Schooley added 13. Jessie MacDonald finished with eight rebounds.
