CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man stabbed with a butcher knife in his home Sunday morning is in stable condition, police and hospital officials said.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Aaron Myers and Derek Anthony Shoemaker, 21, of Waynesboro, Pa., became involved in a verbal argument in Myers' Warm Spring Road home around 2 a.m.

The fight escalated to physical violence, with the two men shoving and bumping into each other, police said.

At some point, Shoemaker allegedly grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen counter and began waving it at Myers, police said. Myers and his girlfriend retreated to their bedroom and locked the door.

Police said Shoemaker bashed in the door and attacked Myers, allegedly stabbing him four times in the back, puncturing his lung.
