Spellers are sought for A-B-C Adult Team Spelling Challenge

The sixth annual A-B-C Adult Team Spelling Challenge will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come at 11:30 a.m. to register, eat, socialize and get a free T-shirt. The competition begins at 12:30 p.m.

The event will be held at Washington County Technical High School, 50 W. Oak Ridge Drive in Hagerstown.

The competition works like this. There are 40 teams of four people. Each team has three chances to win. Team members confer about the correct spelling of each word. Teams win or lose as a team.

The cost is $100 per team of four players. Proceeds benefit the Newspaper in Education Program, a partnership of The Herald-Mail Co., Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and local public and private schools. Refreshments are sponsored by Sunrise Rotary of Hagerstown.
