New Dunkin' Donuts is planned for county

January 28, 2003|by TARA REILLY

A combined Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins store is proposed for Foxshire Plaza on Dual Highway, Washington County Senior Planner Lisa Pietro said Monday.

The 2,270-square-foot building would be built in the parking lot of the plaza and contain a drive-through window, she said.

Developer Fasson Shaool, of Washco Developments Inc., said he hopes the building will be completed by summer.

He said he did not have information on the owners of the shop.

Pietro said the site plan did not contain information on how many people the shop would employ.

The Washington County Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss the shop's site plan at its Feb. 3 meeting at 7 p.m.

A Dunkin' Donuts shop at 339 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown closed in February 2001 after corporate headquarters determined the building was not suitable for required upgrades to Dunkin' Donuts sites.

Dunkin' Donuts', with headquarters in Randolph, Mass., has been in business since 1950. Baskin-Robbins, an ice cream chain, shares the same corporate owners as Dunkin' Donuts. There are more than 4,500 Baskin-Robbins stores worldwide, according to baskinrobbins.com.
