Edgar H. Lecrone

Edgar Henderson Lecrone, 90, of 549 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Julia Manor Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 29, 1912, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Cleggett H. and Mary M. Henderson Lecrone.

His wife, Kathleen Marie Good Lecrone, died March 5, 2001.

He was a 1928 graduate of Chambersburg (Pa.) High School.

He retired from Allegheny Power/Potomac Edison Co.

He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Beaver Creek Country Club.

He is survived by one son, Edgar H. Lecrone Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa.; and one grandson, Christopher E. Lecrone of Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Lecrone.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth S. Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Geraldine M. Laing

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Geraldine M. "Cricket" Laing, 78, of Hedgesville, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at the home of her daughter.

Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Kearneysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herman and Lottie Byers Plotner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester L. Laing.

She was a caregiver to people in the community.

She was a member of Tomahawk Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Dixie Blizzard of Hedgesville; two brothers, Hayward Plotner and Donald Plotner, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Dolly Orsini of Inwood, W.Va.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Victor Plotner, Marshall Plotner, Orville Plotner and Watson Plotner; and two sisters, Imogene Rhoe and Madeline Wood.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Paul Wolverton will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles C. Wines

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Charles Clayton Wines, 71, of Hedgesville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at his home.

Born Feb. 16, 1931, in Loudoun County, Va., he was the son of the late Ernest Clayton and Jossie Ida Wines.

He retired from orchard work in 1991.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia L. Rhoe of Hedgesville, with whom he lived; one stepdaughter, Mary D. Murphy of Bluemont, Va.; one stepson, Rex A. Trussell of Stephens City, Va.; two grandsons; his ex-wife, Elva L. Trussell-Wines-Albright of Virginia; four stepchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph E. Wines, Edward S. Wines and Raymond L. Wines; and two sisters, Dorothy V. Murray and Annie I. Boyd.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Edward L. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Hedgesville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Charles C. Conrad

Charles Clyde Conrad, 84, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Samuel Hendricks and Mary Ester Sinn Conrad.

He worked in the wholesale tobacco industry for Jefferson Tobacco Co. in Ranson, W.Va.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, W.Va., and Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, A. Marie Wilhide Conrad; one daughter, Pamela C. Judy of Charles Town, W.Va.; one sister, Charlotte Boyers of Hagerstown; one grandson; and one stepgranddaughter.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer Conrad, John Conrad, Irvine Conrad and Benjamin Conrad; and two sisters, Mary E. Hoch and Luelle Conrad.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. Pastor Dennis Upton will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.

Patsy D. Burkett

Patsy Doris Burkett, 68, of 906 Pope Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born Aug. 3, 1934, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Esther M. Mills Moore.

She owned the Neighborhood Deli and Burkett's Chesapeake Caf.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Ladies Elks 378.
