The Smiths
John R. "Jack" and Jane Mullenix Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002. On Sunday, Sept. 8, the family attended church and hosted a reception with the congregation of the Church of the Holy Trinity, then the entire family, numbering 26, met at South Mountain Inn for a family dinner.
Mrs. Smith is a 1952 graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for Dr. E.W. Ditto III for 35 years.
Mr. Smith worked at Williams Grocery Store in Funkstown before becoming postmaster of Funkstown, a position he held for 27 years. He then worked as a bailiff in the circuit court system.
