W.Va. contestants prepare for pageants

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Twelve young women will compete for two crowns, scholarships and other prizes at the Miss Berkeley County and Miss Potomac Highlands pageants Saturday, Jan. 25, beginning at 7 p.m. at Apollo Civic Theatre, 128 E. Martin St.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

The two winners will go on to the Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant in June in Clarksburg, W.Va., which is preliminary to the nationally televised Miss America pageant.

Miss Berkeley County contestants
