Mertz leads Rebels past Lions, 64-63, in OT

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - With South Hagerstown trailing Walkersville by three points with 15 seconds to go in overtime, Ben Mertz hit a 3-pointer to tie it and later hit a free throw with no time left to lift South to a 64-63 Monocacy Valley Athletic League victory on Tuesday night.

Jamel Smith led all scorers with 24 points, while David Miner had 11 points and Mertz finished with 10 points for the Rebels (8-3).

Brock McCollum had 23 points and seven rebounds, Brian Morris added 10 points and eight rebounds and Chris Hannigan also had 10 points for Walkersville (6-7).

Everett falls to 10-4 (6-3) with the loss.
