Area Roundup - Plan B is A-OK for HCC men

January 20, 2003

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Hagerstown Community College basketball team went to Plan B on Saturday.

After spending the first half lauching 3-pointers with little return - much like they did on Friday in a loss to Allegany - the Hawks decided to play the inside game against an evenly matched opponent.

Thomas Johnson scored 12 of his 19 points and Tavis Green added 10 of his 12 in the second half as HCC decided to attack the basket instead of shooting at it to pull away to 91-79 win over Essex.

The Hawks (8-9) scored only three 3s on the night as Rexson Kenley took control of the game and passed the ball to the paint. Gebront Gaddy added 13 points as HCC extended a 44-43 halftime lead to a 22-point bulge before settling for the win.
