Dick, Stein & Schemel

J. Edgar "Ed" Wine has joined the law firm of Dick, Stein & Schemel LLP.

A practicing attorney for more than 20 years, Wine, of Greencastle, Pa., has served as in-house counsel for several local corporations, most recently Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, Pa.

Wine's general practice at Dick, Stein & Schemel will focus on business law, estate planning and administration, and real estate law.

O'Neill Physical Therapy Services

Lynn Brewer, physical therapist with O'Neill Physical Therapy Services in Hagerstown, recently completed the two-day course "Examination and Selected Interventions for the Cervical Spine and Shoulder."


Glessner Alarm & Communications

Neal Glessner has been elected president of Glessner Alarm & Communications by the company's board of directors.

Robert Glessner, co-founder and the preceding president, will remain active in the company as chairman of the board.

Chambersburg Hospital

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John Rinehart Jr. of Orrtanna, Pa., was honored last year in Boston after he received his orthopedic clinical specialist certification from the American Physical Therapy Association Orthopedic Section.

Rinehart began working for Chambersburg Hospital in June 2001. He evaluates and treats physical dysfunction, specializing in orthopedics.


Jonathan King was named Employee of the Year for 2002 at the pm2studios Christmas dinner.

King has been with pm2studios three years. He is creative director and oversees production and scheduling at the East Franklin Street office in Hagerstown.

Apparatus Repair & Engineering

Joe Vance of Hagerstown, motor shop supervisor with Apparatus Repair & Engineering Inc. in Hagerstown, completed a three-day training course given by Quality Solutions Co. in Greenwood, Ind., on Servomotor basics.

Humane Society of Washington County

Steve Rogers, animal control officer with the Humane Society of Washington County, recently attended a seminar at Days End Horse Rescue focusing on horse cruelty.

Debbie Porterfield and Rochelle Howell recently completed a course in Canine Temperament Testing with Susan Sternberg in Philadelphia.

Linda M. Smith

Linda M. Smith, independent pharmacy consultant, passed the national certification examination in geriatric pharmacy and is now a certified geriatric pharmacist.

Longaberger Co.

Jennifer Beattie of Hagerstown has joined The Longaberger Co. as an independent sales associate.

Control Cable

William R. Cook of Boonsboro has been named president of Control Cable Inc., whose headquarters is in Baltimore.

Control Cable, a computer and network products distributor, is also a manufacturer of custom cables.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Tim Smith and Tammi Hennessy were selected Agents of the Month for December 2002 at the Chambersburg office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA.

Smith, of Chambersburg, won in the five years of service and over category.

Hennessy, of Chambersburg, won in the five years of service and under category.

Agents are chosen based on number of listings, sales contracts and sales closed.

Betty Crumrine of Greencastle, Pa., was recognized as Agent of the Month for December 2002 in the Greencastle office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA.

The award is given based on the number of listings taken, sales made, attendance of Realtor functions and completion of continuing education classes.

Diane Henicle and Peggy Hays were recognized as December's Leaders in Service. That award is based on the agent's use of companies affiliated with Jack Gaughen ERA.

Hays also was recognized as the top leader in service for 2002.

Tina Long reached $6 million production in 2002 and Mike West reached $4 million in production with Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's Waynesboro office.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA reached the $1 billion category in settled volume for the first time in 2002 with a final volume of $1,029,300,000, representing a 7 percent increase over settled sales in 2001.

Staples Inc.

Two employees of the Staples Inc. Region 3 headquarters office in Hagerstown have been certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute.

The employees are Charles Jakoby of Hagerstown and Lynn Shibley of Hedgesville, W.Va.

Saunders Tax Service

Diane Rowe Caprio has rejoined the staff of Saunders Tax Service in Hagerstown as manager and will be offering year-round accounting and tax services for small businesses and individuals.

Caprio was previously the supervisor of accounting services at a CPA firm in Chambersburg, Pa.

Hagerstown Community College

Hagerstown Community College recently added David Bittorf in its finance office and Jaime Bachtell and Rebecca Elgin to its student advising team.

Bittorf, of Martinsburg, W.Va., has joined the staff as director of Accounting Services.

Bachtell, of Chambersburg, Pa., has been hired as the academic and special student adviser.

Elgin, of Greencastle, Pa., joined HCC as an academic adviser.

Lutheran Home Care Services

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lutheran Home Care Services has named Angela M. "Angie" Cortis Employee of the Month for January.

Cortis, a community health nurse III/preceptor in the Franklin County office, has been with the agency for 12 years. She lives in Chambersburg.
