GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle on Social Island Road off U.S. 11 north of Greencastle Thursday night was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m. by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Connor.

Marvin S. Shlien, 59, of 30 Disert Ave., Greencastle, was eastbound at about 7:29 p.m. when the accident occurred. Connor said Shlien apparently was riding along the side of the road when he was hit.

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg, Pa., were still investigating the accident late Thursday and had no further information on the circumstances of the accident.

Connor said he was unsure weather the accident was related to Thursday night's snowfall, but said it was snowing when he responded to the scene to begin his investigation.

"I do know the victim had been reported missing to the Greencastle Police sometime before the accident," Connor said.

He had no further details Thursday night.
