Rec leagues forming


Chambersburg Recreation is accepting teams for the Adult Indoor Soccer League. Team registration is open for A and B Divisions. The season consists of six games and a post-season playoff. Games are held Sundays, beginning Jan. 19, at Chambersburg Recreation Center. For information, call 1-717-267-3588. The registration deadline is today.

An Adult Basketball League also is being offered. It will meet Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 22. The season will consist of eight games and a post-season playoff. Registration is open to teams only. For information, call 1-717-261-3275. The registration deadline is Sunday, Jan. 12.

Norwalk Soap Box Derby announces that application and registration packages for this year's 2003 Roach Oil/Texaco Classic Soap Box Derby Race are available at the following locations:

  • Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation Office, 273 Woodbury Ave., Lambert Park, Martinsburg, W.Va.

  • Arndt-McBee Insurance Agency, 201 N. Washington St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Space for gymnasts


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro YMCA still is taking registrations for its current session of gymnastics classes that began Tuesday, Jan. 7. The YMCA instructional gymnastics format includes four progressive levels that prepare the gymnasts for team competition.

The following levels of gymnastics are offered throughout the year:

  • Parent Tot for ages 3 1/2 and younger is an opportunity for parents to interact with their child. The class meets Tuesdays from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

  • Kindergym for ages 3 1/2 to 5 builds children's confidence and self-esteem along with increasing motor skills. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:10 to 4:40 p.m. or 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 to 9 a.m. or 9 to 9:30 a.m.

  • Instructional gymnastics for ages 6 to 18 involves learning new skills and advancing into more technical skills through each progressive level. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
