Mail Call for 1/10

January 13, 2003

"I would like to congratulate Justin on the upcoming birth of his first daughter. He is very loved."

"Concerning the pending war with Iraq: I am a very patriotic American and there is not much that I wouldn't do for my country, but I have been giving it a lot of thought. I have been seeing all of these young people leaving their children, their wives, husband, whatever it would be, that would break my heart if it were my son or daughter going over there. On top of that, why should we be taking care of those people all the time, when they don't care about us at all? They would turn on us in a heartbeat. Let's just stay at home and take care of our own country and keep our defenses drawn and let them slug it out among each other. Look at what happens, if they aren't mad at us, they are mad at each other. So, we got to keep our people out of there so we don't loose a countless bunch of people to a war that really shouldn't be."

"In the past two weeks I have had two different appeals for my Fraternal Order of Police here in Hagerstown for funds. What is going on? How many times of year do they ask for funds? I can't take it anymore, I need help myself."

"To the lady that wanted the address for the West Bend. You can call the Washington County Free Library and they will give you the information you need."

"I am calling to thank the nice lady who found my check cashing card in the parking lot of Martin's Food Market on Wesel Boulevard. I also want to thank Pam of Waypoint Bank for mailing the card back to me. Thank you very much and may God bless."

"I would like to take this time to thank all my customers in the North End for all of their Christmas gifts and tips at Christmas and a special thank you to Shirley for the hot chocolate every day in the cold weather. Thank you all very much. Thank you Dee Kenny."

"On Jan. 2 at the Martin's on Dual Highway, I lost a black book that had a calculator and notepad in it. If you found this, please return it to the Martin's store. I was in a car accident earlier that day and all the information about the person who hit me was in that notepad. So it's imperative that I get it back."

"Wishing you a speedy recovery. I am glad that you are doing as good as you are. Hurry and get back to your old self, Donnie. It won't be long until you are back to your old self. Get well soon and take care."

"Congratulations to Rick and Juanita at Washington County Hospital. I wish you the best of luck."

"This is a big thank you and may God bless to Bobby Martin who gave his time and used his snow blower to clear the sidewalk at First Brethren Church during the last snow storm. Thank you from the congregation."

"If Washington County continues to rezone agricultural land, commercial, we will be able to go to sleep in these cute bed and breakfast, like the one proposed on Spielman Road, on an empty stomach because there will be no land to grow the food we need to eat. So nobody needs to mind their own business except the county commissioners who are rezoning all of our land."

"To whoever said that the potholes on Pennsylvania Avenue were fixed, well if that was the case, if you go by there now, you will see that they are open again. I don't know if the cold weather had something to do with it, but they are back. I think someone should look into this."

"I just received my bank statement in the mail and they stated that they will no longer send our canceled checks to us, they are going to send a photocopied of them. Why are they doing this? We want the canceled checks back to us without us having to pay a fee."

"I just read about former County Commissioner Ron Bowers and I think that he is should be punished to the fullest extent of the law like anyone else. I will be watching the papers to see what happens."
