Christmas tree pickups set for borough residents

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Normally, Waynesboro residents put their old Christmas trees out on the curb on a specified Saturday after the holiday for borough crews to pick up.

This year, Borough Manager Lloyd Hamberger said, things are different.

Trees will be picked up on regular trash pickup days between Jan. 13 and Jan. 17.

He asked residents to put their trees out only on the night before their regular trash pickup day, not two or three days before.

"Otherwise they get blown all over the streets," he said.

The borough chips the trees into recyclable mulch.

Hartman appointed to full-time position

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Waynesboro Borough Council Tuesday appointed Jerry Hartman, a paid borough fire apparatus driver, to a full-time position effective immediately.

Hartman, who also serves as the local fire marshal, ended his yearlong probation period Tuesday, paving the way for his full-time appointment.
