The Monroes

Ralph Edelle and Louise Armell McCann Monroe observed their 51st wedding anniversary, Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002.

The Monroes were married Dec. 15, 1951, in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Monroe is the daughter of the late Robert B. and Emma Robinson McCann. She attended Page Jackson High School and Storer College. For many years, she was active in vocal and instrumental music.

Mr. Monroe is the son of the late Clarence H. and Frances King Monroe. He attended North Street High School, Allegheny College, Fairmont State College, James Madison University, Baltimore Area Pastors School and American Divinity School. He was ordained a deacon and elder in the United Methodist Church. He was a full-time minister for 45 years, serving churches in Keyser, W.Va., White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., Fairmont, W.Va., Harrisonburg, Va., Lexington, Va., Staunton, Va., and the Buckeystown Parish in Maryland. He retired in June 2000.

The Monroes were the parents of three children. One daughter survives.


The Bussards

Johnny and Hazel "Skeeter" Bussard of Boonsboro were honored at a 25th wedding anniversary open house celebration Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro. The event was hosted by their children.

The Bussards were married Nov. 27, 1977, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Bussard is the former Hazel Stover. She retired from Londontowne Manufacturing Co. in Boonsboro.

Mr. Bussard retired from Columbia Gas Co. of Maryland.

The Bussards have six children, Linda Russell and Kathy Moquin, both of Winchester, Va.; Milton "Greg" Stover of Williamsport; Michael Bussard of Sharpsburg; Amy Ryan of Hagers-town; and Joel Bussard of Waynesboro, Pa. They have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
