'Right Bed, Wrong Husband' auditions today, Monday

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Blue Ridge Theatre Guild will hold open auditions for its upcoming Spring comedy, "Right Bed, Wrong Husband" by Neil and Caroline Schaffner, Sunday, Jan. 5, and Monday Jan. 6, in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

At 2 p.m. today and 7:30 p.m. Monday, auditions will be at Carroll Valley Resort ballroom on Sanders Road in Carroll Valley, Pa., next to Ski Liberty.

At 7:30 tonight, tryouts will also be held at the fellowship hall of St. John's Lutheran Church, 15 N. Church St., in Thurmont, Md.

Directed by Gary Bechtel, this comedy of errors is instigated when Ted writes his pinchpenny uncle that he is married and requires an increase in his allowance.


Problem is, Ted's only engaged. And when his uncle arrives and mistakes Ted's best friend's wife as his nephew's, comic mayhem ensues.

"Right Bed, Wrong Husband" requires seven actors, ranging in age from 20s to 60s. Production dates are scheduled for Friday, March 28, to Sunday, March 30, at Carroll Valley Resort Hotel; Friday, April 4, to Sunday, April 6, at Thurmont American Legion; and Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at the Arendtsville, Pa., V.H.S. Auditorium.

The cast;

Ted - A young bachelor, engaged to be married ... soon, he hopes. Age: late 20s to mid 30s

Martin - Ted's uncle, breezy, domineering ... thinks Ted is married. Age: late 40s to late 50s

Claude - Ted's friend, a struggling author with writers' block. Age: early to late 30s

Hubert - A neighbor; has mother-in-law trouble. Age: mid 30s to late 40s

Ruth - Engaged to Ted ... when Daddy approves. Age: late 20s to mid 30s

Evelyn - Married to Claude; helps Ted in his predicament. Age: early to late 30s

Myra - Not engaged, not married ... not planning on doing either. Age: Late 20s to 60s
