Man found on city street has condition upgraded

The Hagerstown man who was found unconscious on a city sidewalk Wednesday morning is now in serious condition at Washington County Hospital.

David Eugene Wade, 44, of 52 Murph Ave., was admitted in critical condition to the hospital Wednesday for treatment of head injuries, Hagerstown City Police said.

Officers went to the first block of Charles Street at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report from a citizen of a man face down on the sidewalk.

Doors, 4-wheeler reported stolen

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls Tuesday and Wednesday:

  • A $4,000 Honda four-wheeler was reported stolen Tuesday from the 11800 block of Camden Road north of Williamsport.

  • Doors worth $1,850 were reported stolen Tuesday from a house under construction in the 800 block of Brookridge Drive in Boonsboro.

  • A compact disc player and stereo, some CDs and a sander were reported stolen Wednesday from a Dodge Neon parked on the 10700 block of Hershey Drive east of Williamsport. No value was given.

  • The windshield of a Ford pickup truck parked in the 13600 block of Cress Pond Road west of Hagerstown was reported broken on Wednesday. The damage was estimated at $500.

  • The windshield of a vehicle parked in the 17500 block of Green Meadow Lane near Halfway Boulevard was reported broken on Wednesday. The damage was estimated at $300.

Deputies still searching for missing city teen

The Washington County Sheriff's Department is still looking for a boy missing from Cedar Ridge Children's Home on Cedar Ridge Road west of Hagerstown since Saturday.

Marcus Allen Dunckel, 15, is described as white, with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

He is from the Hagerstown area, deputies said.

Burglars steal safe from area pizza shop

WILLIAMSPORT - Burglars broke out the side door of Tony's Pizza at 10 E. Salisbury St. around 10 p.m. Wednesday, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

The burglars took the safe and some money from the cash register, deputies said.

Martinsburg police to hold DUI checkpoints

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Martinsburg Police Department will be conducting a DUIsobriety checkpoint on Sunday from midnight to 4 a.m.

According to a news release from the department, the primary area of the checkpoint will be the 1200 block of North Queen Street. The secondary location will be the 900 block of Winchester Avenue. The sites have been chosen based on accident and incident frequencies, according to the release.

The checkpoints are being set up to deter and detect motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to the news release.
