January 02, 2003|by SCOTT BUTKI

Hagerstown Councilman N. Linn Hendershot was released Monday evening from Washington County Hospital after being treated for breathing problems caused by pneumonia.

Hendershot was admitted to the hospital Friday after suffering shortness of breath early that morning that did not respond to normal treatment.

Hendershot said he gets pneumonia about once every 12 to 18 months.

Hendershot said he breathes with the assistance of a ventilator because of breathing problems caused by contracting polio as a child. The breathing problems worsened after he had bronchial pneumonia in 1997, he said.
