Man faces drug charges following traffic stop

A Hagerstown man was arrested on drug charges late Saturday following a traffic stop for speeding near Hagerstown.

Richard Lee Ridenour, 38, of 245 Belview Ave., was traveling eastbound on U.S. 40 about 20 mph over a posted 45 mph speed limit when he was stopped by Maryland State Police Cpl. T.J. McKenrick.

McKenrick said he smelled an odor of burnt marijuana from Ridenour's Dodge Dakota pickup truck and proceeded to search it. He found a punctured soda can, which he determined had been used for smoking, and a plastic bag containing three bags of marijuana.

Ridenour was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

He was released from the Washington County Detention Center Sunday morning after posting $30,000 bond.

Frederick man arrested after high-speed chase

FREDERICK, Md. - Following a pursuit reaching 100 mph on U.S. 15 extending from near South Jefferson Street in Frederick to north of Thurmont, Md., Sunday morning, Frederick City Police Sgt. Wayne Trapp arrested a Frederick man on alcohol and traffic charges, police said.


David Buford Hill Jr., 24, of 1906 Chadwick Circle, was charged with DWI, fleeing and eluding, driving on a suspended license, speeding, reckless driving and negligent driving, police said.

Driving a white Ford Explorer, Hill was stopped by police after they used a device that punctured and slowly deflated the car's tires near the U.S. 15 intersection with Md. 806 at 1:49 a.m., police said.

Hill was being held at the Frederick County Detention Center Sunday night in lieu of $15,000 bond, jail officials said.

Man being held on rape, assault charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was arrested Friday on rape and assault charges, Frederick City Police said.

A 31-year-old woman reported she met Napoleon Lopez Romero, of 1450 W. Key Parkway, Apt. 202, and some of his friends at an unnamed Frederick establishment and was lured to the suspect's home at Woodlawn Village apartment complex, where she was sexually assaulted, police said.

Romero, 19, was charged with first- and second-degree rape and second-degree assault. He was being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without bond, police said Sunday.

The victim was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is continuing.

Man arrested in crash involving sheriff's deputy

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - A Front Royal, Va., man was arrested Saturday on alcohol-related charges following a car accident that involved a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department deputy, police said.

The man was exiting the Top Brass Club in a red Dodge truck onto U.S. 11 toward Inwood, W.Va., when he struck a police car driven by Deputy Keith Sigulinsky, who was patrolling the area, Sigulinsky said in a press release. Staton did not have his car's headlights turned on, according to the release.

Both vehicles had minor damage, the release said.

The driver failed several field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department, where he blew .149 on a breath test, the release said.

He was charged with a felony because it was his third offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, Sigulinsky said.

The driver was taken to Eastern Regional Jail, where he was being held on $10,000 bond Sunday night.

No age or street address for the suspect were available Sunday night.

Game machine tokens taken from Pa. arcade

SCOTLAND, Pa. - More than $100 worth of game machine tokens were stolen from an area arcade, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Someone took 511 tokens worth $148.50 from two game machines at Aladdin's Castle in Chambersburg Mall between Dec. 12 and 19, police said.

Police cite 22 youths for underage drinking

QUINCY, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police cited 22 youths early Sunday for underage drinking at a party in Quincy Township.

Police responded to the report of an underage party on Grismill Road at 12:40 a.m. and issued citations to 22 out of 25 people there.

Police also confiscated drug paraphernalia and alcohol.

An investigation into who furnished the alcohol to the minors continues, police said.
