Bethel Assembly of God hosting Christmas meal

December 24, 2002|by LAURA ERNDE

Bethel Assembly of God in Hagerstown will host a free community dinner on Christmas Day for anyone who would like to attend.

The dinner will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at 515 E. Wilson Blvd., said Ed Kennedy, one of the organizers.

There will be gift bags for children and the church's "clothes closet" will be available for those who want to use it free of charge, he said.

The church has been holding a Christmas dinner for the last five years, serving an average of 250 people, Kennedy said.

"It touched my heart last year when one elderly lady was asked what would she be doing if she wasn't at the dinner. Her response ... sitting home alone," he said.

Those who don't have transportation can call 301-739-1167 for a free ride.
