Christmas volunteers needed

December 23, 2002

Members of the community are being invited to join MiHi and St. John's Episcopal Church parishioners on Christmas Day at Western Maryland Hospital Center for the 4th annual party for the 120 patients there.

Volunteers will share their holiday wishes, food and enthusiasm with the patients. Musical entertainment will be provided by Broadfording Christian Academy students, led by music teacher Denise DeSouza.

Additional entertainment will include caroling accompanied by Anne Carden on the piano, singing by Bill Cosner and karaoke.

Each year, gifts are provided through donations made by area citizens and businesses, St. John's parishioners and MiHi (Many Individuals Helping Individuals). Patients receive items such as sweatsuits, socks, nightgowns, pens, stationery, blankets, slippers, toiletries and holiday mementos.

The Christmas Day party is from 3 to 5 p.m. Volunteers wishing to assist in bringing patients to the activity room are asked to arrive at 2:30 p.m.
