R. Delores Mentzer

QUINCY, Pa. - R. Delores Mentzer, 77, of 6744 Shoestring Hill Road, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Quincy United Methodist Home.

Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira W. and Rose M. Mickley Rock.

Her first husband, George W. Black, died April 23, 1966.

She attended Quincy schools.

She was employed at Waynesboro Laundry, and later worked as a machine operator at Wayne's Sportswear and Waynesboro Knitting Mill, both in Waynesboro. She retired in 1970.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene R. Mentzer, whom she married May 16, 1970; one daughter, Patricia A. Zeigler of Waynesboro; two brothers, Addison W. Rock of Rouzerville, Pa., and Richard J. Rock of Mont Alto, Pa.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.




Margaret G. Skiles

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Margaret G. "Peg" Skiles, 76, of 1116 Apple Way, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Nov. 15, 1926, in Robinson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Levonia Fulcomer Bowers.

She was a waitress for 21 years at Real McCoy in Bolivar, Pa.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Florence, Pa.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary; VFW in Robinson; and VFW and Missile Bowling League, Ligonier, Pa.

She is survived by two sons, H. Dean Skiles of St. Thomas, and Kenneth E. Skiles of Egg Harbor City, N.J.; one daughter, Patricia L. Morgan of St. Thomas; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Glass, James Bowers, Darryl Bower and an infant brother; and two sisters, Ruth Ritenour and Janet Gregorich.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Burial will be in Germany Lutheran Cemetery, New Florence.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., St. Thomas. There will also be visitation Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Evelyn E. Miller

STILLWATER, Pa. - Evelyn E. Staley Watson Miller, 97, a resident of Bonham Nursing Home, and formerly of Mount Vernon Terrace, Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at the nursing home.

Born Aug. 21, 1905, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Annie Moser Staley.

Her first husband, J. Earle Watson, died March 9, 1948. They were married in 1926. Her second husband, George F. Miller, died Nov. 7, 1973. They were married April 6, 1950.

She was a 1923 graduate of Waynesboro High School, and attended Shippensburg (Pa.) Normal School.

She taught elementary school in Mont Alto, Quincy Township and Washington Township schools. She served as executive director of Antietam Council of the Girl Scouts of America from 1948 to 1961. Prior to retiring in 1973, she served as executive director of Franklin County Society for Crippled Children. Following her retirement, she served as a consultant to the society.

She served as director of volunteers at Quincy United Methodist Home, and was a member and first president of the auxiliary board of Franklin County Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.

She was selected by Beta Sigma Phi as Lady of the Year for her volunteerism in 1974.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by two sons, John S. Watson of Nokomis, Fla., and Lynn A. Watson of Benton, Pa.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Arthur R. Miller and Joan M. Neidentohl; two sisters, Thelma Traxler and Helen Raby; and one brother, Harry Staley.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Easter Seals Society, 18 N. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Rosalyn D. Wolford

WILLIAMSPORT - Rosalyn D. "Pat" Wolford, 77, of Williamsport, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 25, 1925, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Lorraine E. Warner.

Her husband, Leslie O. Wolford, died in 1995.

She worked for Fairchild Aircraft, and was employed in Hagerstown as an administrative assistant in the medical and legal fields, retiring in 1995.
