HAGERSTOWN - After receiving an anonymous tip, Hagerstown Police went to 37 Fairground Ave. this morning and arrested two men suspected of a home invasion robbery last week.

Police are trying to determine the identity of a third suspect, Lt. Rick Johnson said.

When police searched 37 Fairground Ave. and allegedly found marijuana, two other people were arrested.

The tip came Thursday, two days after police released information about a Dec. 12 robbery at 25 Broadway and asked for the public's help in finding the suspects.

The tip led police to 37 Fairground Ave., which they staked out. After confirming that the two robbery suspects were there, police obtained a search and seizure warrant for Apartment 2W, according to Johnson.

At about 1:20 a.m. today, police entered the residence and arrested Stephen Henry Baptiste Jr. and Russell Nelson Younker.

Baptiste, 17, whose last known address was on Broadway, and Younker, 17, whose last known address was on Hamilton Boulevard in Hagerstown, were each charged with three counts apiece of armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault and theft; and one count apiece of first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and use of a handgun in a crime of violence.

Both are being charged as adults.

Baptiste was being held on $150,000 bond late Friday at the Washington County Detention Center. Younker was released earlier in the day on $20,000 bond.

Johnson said police did not release information about the robbery right away because they were trying to work "behind the scenes" to catch the suspects.

When that didn't work, police released information about the crime and pictures of the suspects.

Johnson said the publicity "most definitely" led to the tip and the subsequent arrests.

Police said three young men with guns - one wearing a ski mask - entered 25 Broadway at about 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 and robbed two residents and a visitor.

The victims knew two of the robbers as "Steve" and "Russell," police said. "Steve," the victims reported, lived on the first block of Broadway.

Police said "Steve" had been at the residence earlier that night as the male visitor and a male resident made drug transactions.

When "Steve" returned later that night, the male resident recognized him and opened the front door to let him in. That's when "Steve" and two other young men forced their way in and held the visitor and two residents at gunpoint, police said.

One gunman allegedly hit the male resident in the face with the gun and removed money from his pocket.

The gunmen reportedly stole two packs of cigarettes, a $280 bracelet, a large amount of marijuana and money, then fled, police said.

When police searched Apartment 2W at 37 Broadway Friday morning, they allegedly found a large amount of marijuana and two handguns.

Johnson said it was the same marijuana that was stolen from 25 Broadway.

After apprehending Baptiste and Younker, police arrested Israel Antonio Martinez, 19, of 217 N. Locust St., Apt. 3, Hagerstown, and Corey Delontia Milligan, 27, of 37 Fairground Ave., Apt. 2W, Hagerstown.

Each was charged with one count apiece of possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Martinez was being held on $5,000 bond late Friday at the Washington County Detention Center. Milligan was being held on $7,000 bond.
