ST. JAMES - After his Gaels had a subpar offensive performance, St. Maria Goretti coach Todd Rideout was glad to just get out of St. James' Alumni Hall with a 40-32 win over the Saints on Wednesday.
"We had no intensity tonight," St. Maria Goretti coach Todd Rideout said. "We struggled with our shooting. Our shot selection was poor tonight. We had 17 turnovers. We have got to cut down on our turnovers and be more patient on offense, too."
Katie Chambers led St. Maria Goretti (5-3) with 10 rebounds and 10 points, while Kelly Wills grabbed nine rebounds.
Katie Graham finished with team-high totals of 18 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for St. James (1-5). Katherine Kopp made seven steals, Whitney Neilson added eight rebounds and Jamie Ferrell had six rebounds.
"We just didn't shoot well during the first three quarters," St. James coach Ted Camp said. "It comes down to making 25 turnovers. I think that we did a good job with our defense and rebounding. When you hold St. Maria Goretti to 40 points, you have to be pleased."
