Tree recycling set

Washington County residents will be able to recycle up to two Christmas trees per household at no charge.

Clean Christmas trees will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Dec. 26-Jan. 31, excluding holidays, at the county landfill locations.

Forty West Landfill is 1 mile west of Huyetts Crossroads off Route 40. This is the site preferred for drop off.

Trees may also be taken to the Greensburg Convenience Center, 13125 Bikle Road; the Hancock Convenience Center at 6502 Hess Road; Kaetzel Convenience Center, 2926 Kaetzel Road; or the Dargan Convenience Center, 2201 Dargan School Road.

The program, authorized by the Washington County Commissioners, is a cooperative effort by the Solid Waste Department at the Highways Department.
