W.Va. man faces charges of attempted murder, robbery

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Acting on information from authorities in Maryland, police in Martinsburg arrested a man at his Martinsburg Mall place of employment Monday evening on charges including attempted first-degree murder.

Shane Lee McGrain, 26, of 100 S. Kentucky Ave., Martinsburg, was taken into custody at 5:30 p.m. without incident by Det. Sgt. George Swartwood, Cpl. John Sherman and Patrolman Charles Kittle, Martinsburg City Police said.

McGrain was being held at the Eastern Regional Jail Monday evening awaiting an arraignment, police said.

In addition to the attempted murder charge stemming from a Dec. 5 incident in Baltimore, McGrain also faces charges of attempted armed robbery, armed robbery, two counts each of first- and second-degree assault, two sex offenses, false imprisonment, three handgun violations, felony theft, unlawful credit card use and burglaries, police said.
