Statewide Health Network

The University of Maryland Statewide Health Network opened a Hagerstown office this month.

The health network promotes prevention programs about cancer and other tobacco-related diseases, said Marcia Swain, Western Maryland regional coordinator.

The network collaborates with other organizations to provide cancer screenings, finds speakers, offers cancer prevention education to doctors, and provides videoconferencing for health officials to discuss cancer-related education, Swain said.

The network is funded by the Maryland Cigarette Restitution Fund Program.

The local office is on the third floor of Hub Plaza at 1101 Opal Court off Eastern Boulevard. The office number is 301-733-8141.

The combined firm will continue to serve the auditing, accounting, tax, business advisory, accounting software support and financial planning needs of its clients from both Hagerstown locations and its office in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Allegheny Center for Reconstructive Surgery

The Allegheny Center for Reconstructive Surgery was honored by the Career Services Department at Thompson Institute as the Employer of the Month for December.

The honor is in recognition of the center's dedication to the education and employment of medical students.
