CLEAR SPRING - Senior Sarah Harris did all she needed to do early, scoring all 12 of her points in the first 10 minutes of the game to help Boonsboro to a 62-32 win over Clear Spring on Saturday.

Harris' fast start got the Warriors out to a 21-9 lead midway through the second quarter.

"We wanted to come out and get an early lead," Harris said. "We wanted to work on fine-tuning our offense and our defense. We just came out aggressive. We wanted to win. So, we came out with high spirits. I didn't realize that I was doing so well. I just came out wanting to play."

Harris also pulled down nine rebounds before getting into foul trouble and eventually fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

By that time, Boonsboro (1-1) had a commanding 40-20 lead over Clear Spring (0-1).

"I knew that they didn't have any height," Boonsboro coach Bernie Semler said. "We wanted to go to the inside. We did a good job of getting the ball inside to Sarah Harris. That is her strength: in and around the basket. She should be able to get those shots from five feet out."

Semler felt that his players performed well in this early part of the season.

"This is almost like the first game of the season because of the weather, even though we already played one game against Smithsburg," Semler added. "It was nice for us to come back and have a game like this. Our goals were to play tough defense and control the boards. We felt that we did a good job with both things tonight."

Brittaney Selby got 13 points and five rebounds, while Lauren Low contributed 10 points and six assists for Boonsboro. Julie Stevens collected nine rebounds and nine points, Priscilla Myers added seven blocked shots and five rebounds and Sara Beth Williams had six rebounds and five steals for the Warriors.

Tara Fockler led Clear Spring with 10 rebounds and nine points.
