Sharon D. Weidman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sharon D. Weidman, 60, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002.

She was the daughter of Bevitt D. and Mary K. Arvon Haines.

She was employed by City Hospital in Martinsburg as a nurse for the Transitional Care Unit.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roger G. Weidman; a daughter, Tomma L. Clauss; a son, Roger G. Weidman of Martinsburg; a brother, Kenneth M. Haines of Marlow, W.Va.; a half sister, Kyleen M. Bartles; a grandson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services and burial will be private. The Rev. Eddie Edmonds will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society, Charles Town Road, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Mae A. Thorsell

Mae Agnes Thorsell, 72, of 20014 Rosebank Way, Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 13, 1930, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Edward Andrew and Mae Agnes Mitchell Weedon.

She was a graduate of Suburban Hospital School of Nursing.

She was employed as a nurse by Homewood Retirement Center in Frederick, Md., National Lutheran Home in Rockville, Md., and Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Md.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Teays of Hagerstown and Mary Hegamyer of Willow Grove, Pa.; three sons, James E. Allen Jr. of Hagerstown, Larry D. Allen of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and John S. Hegamyer of Mathews, Va.; two sisters, Jean Fisher of Alexandria, Ohio, and Sharon Milstead of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown.

There will be no viewing.

John D. Lewis

The family of John David Lewis, 90, formerly of 55 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown, who died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, and Monday from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Church and Winter streets.




Maybelle C. McClanahan

QUINCY, Pa. - Maybelle C. Izer McClanahan, 85, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 14 Barnett Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the nursing home.

Born April 3, 1917, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Baumgardner Izer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ray McClanahan, in 1973. They were married May 6, 1946.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg and worked in the cafeteria for the Waynesboro School District.

She was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Ladies Auxiliary, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Ladies Auxiliary, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191 Ladies Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagle 1758 Ladies Auxiliary, all of Waynesboro.

She is survived by a son, Dennis R. McClanahan of Waynesboro; two brothers, Richard Izer of Zullinger, Pa., and Kenneth Izer of Chambersburg; three granddaughters, four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Woodring and Evelyn L. Stotler, and three brothers, Clifford Izer, Franklin Izer and Harry Izer.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




Mary L. Thomas

Mary Lucille "Marylou" Bond Thomas, 70, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Della Wolfe Bond.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles H. Bingaman and Benjamin Thomas.

She co-owned Bay Jewelers in Hagerstown and Waynesboro, Pa., from 1971 to 1982. She co-founded, was on the board of directors and was a past president of WJAL-TV Station 68 of Franklin County, Pa. She also was a receptionist at WKSL from 1990 to 1993.

She was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Williamsport where she taught Sunday school to children and adults.

She was a volunteer at Washington County Hospital and the Prison Ministry.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Lou Miles of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert Z. Roane Jr. of Smithsburg, William A. Roane of Maugansville and Charles H. Bingaman II of Hagerstown; one step-daughter, Erin Thomas of Hagerstown; a sister, Shirley Reese of Smithsburg; a brother, Floyd Bond of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Bond.

Services will be Tuesday at noon at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
