Naomi E. Shives

JENNERS, Pa. - Naomi Elizabeth Shives, 81, of Bedford Street, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Somerset Hospital in Somerset, Pa.

Born Dec. 2, 1921, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Scott Arlington and Mary Etta Spritter Souders.

Her husband, George Shives, died June 14, 1971.

She retired from Prince George's County Schools in Maryland where she was a cook. She was more recently employed by Boswell Drugs.

She was a member of Boswell Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Somerset Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah S. Hogan of Triangle, Va.; a granddaughter, Lisa West of Richmond, Va.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Hancock.




Lydia F. Randolph

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lydia Faith Randolph, infant daughter of Brook M. Randolph and Natasha Clark of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Cassidy J. Randolph at home; two brothers, Noah E. Randolph and Elijah T. Randolph, both at home; maternal grandparents Edward and Vergie Clark of Hagerstown; and paternal grandparents Dean and Kathleen Randolph of Martinsburg.

Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Community Church, Building Fund, 121 Forever Green Drive, Falling Waters, WV 25419.




Gwendolyn J. Lantz

Gwendolyn Jo Lantz, 32, of South Locust Street, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 9, 1970, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Vivian Frankenfield Lantz of Hagerstown and Frank L. Lantz of Sabillasville, Md.

She was employed by Freddie's Subs on Dual Highway in Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by five children, Christopher, James, April, Cory and Keirsten; a sister, Melinda Wetzel of Frederick, Md.; two brothers, Milt Lantz of Emmitsburg, Md., and Greg Lantz of Hagerstown; two grandmothers, Mary Lantz of Gettysburg, Pa., and Helen Frankenfield of Quincy, Pa.; two nieces and three nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Mark C. Mooney will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Mary G. Seville

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mary G. Seville, 79, of 12541 Dickeys Road, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at her home.

Born Sept. 9, 1923, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Blanche Reeder Gift.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover W. Seville, in 1984.

She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg, Pa.

She is survived by three sons, John C. Seville of St. Thomas, Clyde E. Seville of Mercersburg and Roy B. Seville of Chambersburg, Pa.; four sisters, Helen Pine of Mercersburg, Sara Reamer of St. Thomas, Ruth Patterson of Waynesboro, Pa., and Catherine Helm of Mercersburg; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry W. Seville, and a brother, Frank Gift.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Belvy C. White will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Visitation will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.




Ivy D. Spoonhour

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ivy D. Straley Spoonhour, 73, of 5368 Philadelphia Ave., Lot 10, and formerly of 3718 Warm Spring Road, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 5, 1929, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Barbara Ann Bennett Straley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur A. Spoonhour, in 1995. They were married Nov. 25, 1948.

She was a 1948 graduate of St. Thomas High School.

She owned and operated an upholstery business for 15 years, retiring in 1995. Earlier, she was employed by Knouse Foods and Stanley Co.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Williamson, Pa.

She was a member of Detrich-Brechbill American Legion Post 612 Ladies Auxiliary of St. Thomas, Pa.

She is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Bittinger and Brenda Lippy, both of Chambersburg, Billie A. West of Shippensburg, Pa., and Barbara J. Spoonhour of California; a sister, Estallene Bumbaugh of Cascade; two brothers, Carl Straley of Fayetteville, Pa., and Elwood Straley of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Allen Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
