Recipe - Cherry chocolate chunk cookies

Cherry Chocolate Chunk Cookies



  • 1 3/4 cups flour

  • 1/3 cup cocoa

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup butter

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

  • 2 cups chocolate chunks

  • 3/4 cup maraschino cherries, quartered


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla and almond extracts. Blend in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chunks and cherries. Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them 3 inches apart. Flatten dough with a glass dipped in granulated sugar. Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Makes one dozen.
