Recipe - Glazed Apple-Craisin-Walnut cookies

Glazed Apple-Craisin-Walnut Cookies



  • 1/2 cup shortening

  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cups sifted flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1 cup nuts, coarsely chopped

  • 1 cup finely chopped, peeled apples

  • 1 cup Craisins

  • 1/4 cup milk


Beat together shortening and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg. Sift together next five ingredients. Stir half the dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts, apples and Craisins. Stir in remaining half of dry ingredients and milk. Mix well. Drop from tablespoon 1 1/2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove to rack. While still warm, spread with glaze and dip glazed part in ground walnuts.

Glaze:


  • 1 1/2 cups 10x sugar

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 3 tablespoons light cream
