CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia State police in Jefferson County investigated a two-vehicle accident on W.Va. 9 west of Charles Town that sent the wife of Charles Town's mayor to the hospital.

Victoria Hilton, 54, of 316 S. Mildred St., the wife of Charles Town Mayor Randolph Hilton, was treated at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va., and released following the 5 p.m. crash, her husband said.

The driver of the second vehicle, Mary Werner, 37, of Charles Town, complained of a knee injury but did not go to the hospital, Senior Trooper T. J. Mikell said.

Werner's 3-year-old daughter was in a car seat and was not injured, he said.

According to Mikell, the accident involved a rear-end collision.
