Frye believes sequel will be filmed here

"Gods and Generals" Associate Producer Dennis Frye said Tuesday he believes much of the movie's sequel will be filmed in Washington County.

Frye said he believed most of the negotiations were complete to have "The Last Full Measure," the third installment in the Civil War trilogy, filmed here. Much of "Gods and Generals" was filmed in Washington County and nearby areas.

Frye said he wasn't sure the paperwork had been signed yet.

Last week's offer from the Washington County Commissioners to loan $300,000 to Ron Maxwell Productions Inc. to have much of the movie filmed in the county was the "most important step in getting the deal done," Frye said.

The loan, which is personally guaranteed by Maxwell, would become a grant if at least 50 percent of the film is produced in the county. The money would help cover screenwriting and other preproduction costs.

County Commissioners President Gregory I. Snook said he hasn't heard anything new from Maxwell since the commissioners offered the financing, but was "confident" the movie would be filmed here.

Maxwell could not be reached Tuesday for comment.
