Holiday dinners offered Thursday

Various churches and agencies in Franklin County and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia have events planned for Thanksgiving Day.

  • The Salvation Army in Chambersburg, Pa., will host its annual Thanksgiving Dinner at noon, following an 11 a.m. service at the Salvation Army Chapel, 159 Lincoln Way West.

    The Salvation Army and the United Churches of the Chambersburg Area, which is sponsoring the service, encourages people attending the service to arrive early or stay late to help with the dinner preparation or cleanup.

    All who participate are welcome to share the meal.

  • St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Pa., will hold a community dinner on Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. in the Outreach Center, 44 E. Main St.

  • The Newburg First Church of God plans a Thanksgiving meal that will begin at noon on Thursday. The church is at 248 Newburg Road, Newburg, Pa.

  • St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 233 S. Queen St., Martinsburg, W.Va., is sponsoring its second annual free community All Are Welcome Thanksgiving dinner at noon Thursday.

    Those who plan to attend between noon and 3:30 p.m. at the Catholic school building on Stephen Street are asked to make reservations by calling 1-304-267-4893.

    Walk-ins will be accepted Thursday.
