CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Charles Town Rotary Club presented five awards in November recognizing outstanding services in the vocational field.
The award recipients each received $100 to give to the charity of their choice.
The awards went to:
- Richard "Tex" Lee, Valley Equine Associates, 32 years of service. Lee chose the J.B. Smith Memorial Golf Tournament as his recipient of choice.
- Diane Gayhart, Stuck & Alger Pharmacy, 16 years of service. She will designate her charity recipient at a later date but indicated it would go toward helping people diagnosed with cancer.
- Cindy Sokol, Jefferson County Schools, six years of service. Sokol designated the Jefferson County Community Ministries be her charity of choice.
- Karen Zombro, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, 22 years of service. She designated her award go to the Jefferson Health Care Foundation.
- Wayne Gaskins, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, 22 years of service. Gaskin designated the March of Dimes to receive his award money. Gaskins is one of the Top 10 individual fund-raisers in West Virginia.
Dan Burhans, vice president of Charles Town Rotary, made a special presentation of the James Rumsey Scholarship to Jim Speers.
