Teenagers arrested in school break-ins

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eight teenagers who allegedly broke into Rosemont Elementary School in Martinsburg and stole electronics, food and employees' belongings have been arrested.

The six boys and two girls were released to the custody of their parents, according to a press release from the Martinsburg Police Department. They ranged from 14 to 17 years old, police said.

The school was broken into several times throughout September and October, police said. On Oct. 2, someone stole several TV/VCR combination units and a laser disc player, then smashed them along nearby streets, police said.

During their investigation into the break-ins at the school, police arrested a 15-year-old boy who allegedly stole a Ford Explorer and used a battery to weigh down its gas pedal, causing the car to crash into a concrete barrier, police said.
