CATONSVILLE, Md. - Hagerstown Community College dropped its second straight game Friday evening as Catonsville defeated the Hawks, 80-71.

Thomas Johnson led Hagerstown with 25 points and eight rebounds. Tavis Green had four steals and five boards to go along with a pair of free throws for the Hawks (3-2).

Hagerstown will attempt to bounce back on Tuesday at Howard at 7:30.

ERIE, Pa. - Kelly Irwin scored a team-high 14 points to lead Gannon University to a in first-round action at the 2002 Gannon University Avalon Classic.

Brianne Hamilton led Shepherd with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Ashana Cowans also had 15 points for the Rams.

Shephered will play today at 1 in the consolation game against either Slippery Rock or Bowie State.

Brennan paces Terps


ATLANTA - Maryland's Carey Brennan, a 1999 Smithsburg High School graduate, led the Terps (18-14) with 12 kills and 18 digs in their 30-28, 30-22, 30-22 loss to Duke in the ACC Volleyball Tournament.

Duke (24-8) advances to play Georgia Tech today.
