Washington County Hospital

Occupational therapy assistant Nancy Horst was named the Community Health Professional of the Year by the Maryland-National Capital Homecare Association.

Horst was recognized at an awards ceremony during the association's state convention in Ocean City, Md., on Sept. 26.

Horst has been licensed as a certified occupational therapy assistant since 1998. She began her career with Washington County Hospital in 1980 as a certified nursing assistant, and in 1989 she joined the staff of the hospital's Home Health Care as a home health care aide.

Plastic Surgery Services

Dr. Henry F. Garazo was among 1,512 Initiates from around the world who became Fellows of the American College of Surgeons during convocation ceremonies at the college's recent 88th annual Clinical Congress in San Francisco.

Garazo received a medical doctorate in 1990 from Jefferson Medical College and is practicing at Plastic Surgery Services in Hagerstown and Chambersburg, Pa.


Garazo is chief of plastic surgery at Washington County Hospital.

Dale N. Swope of Photography by Dale Inc. in Hagerstown has been recertified as a "Certified Professional Photographer" by the Professional Photographers of America.

Swope was originally certified in 1982. The certification indicates a photographer has met requirements designed to measure his artistic, technical, ethical and business competence.

Certification must be renewed every five years.

Mike Russo has been named a producer at J. Edward Cochran & Co. Inc.

Licensed in Maryland and Pennsylvania, he will concentrate on expanding the insurance agency in Franklin County, Pa.

Synergy Healing Arts Center and Massage School

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Several members of the staff of Synergy Healing Arts Center and Massage School have participated in a Pranic Healing workshop taught by Mark Wieczorek at Synergy on Sept. 21 and 22.

Deb Teich, Ola Jones, Pam Jeffers, Ginger Lebow, Jesse Carbaugh, Karen Hodges, Margie Schaeffer, Jack Fisher, Joanne Keyser and Melanie Biermann completed the training.

Longmeadow Exxon

Scott Zaffaroni of Longmeadow Exxon recently completed General Motors training classes in On-Board Diagnostic II and Intermediate Automotive Electrical.

Anita Lynne Home

Sherry M. Wright has been named development consultant at Anita Lynne Home Inc.

Wright will coordinate a fund-raising program for Anita Lynne Home and its Star Equestrian Therapeutic Riding Center.

Cindy Harbaugh has been promoted to Smithfield House manager at Anita Lynne Home, a newly created position. Harbaugh will coordinate and manage the needs of staff members and residents for two homes at Anita Lynne.

Matt Bender, who has been on the residential night duty staff since May 1998, has accepted a position as night duty manager.

Raymond Teneyck has joined Anita Lynne Home as residential program manager, responsible for planning, developing and implementing residential programs.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jean Rosenberger was recognized for excellent performance in October at Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's Waynesboro office.

The decision was based on the number of new listings, sales and referrals, attendance at real estate meetings and workshops and customer satisfaction reports.

Rosenberger and two other agents at the office have reached career milestones.

Tina Long has reached $5 million production so far in 2002, Rosenberger reached $4 million and Bob Snurr $2 million.

In the Greencastle, Pa., office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA, Betty Crumrine was recently recognized for reaching the $2 million mark in sales so far for 2002.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has recognized Suzanne Glocker of the Glocker Group as the top listing sales associate by volume, the top sales associate by settled volume and the top sales associate by settled units in October.

Cynthia Moler was the top listing sales associate by units, the top selling sales associate by volume and the top selling sales associate by units in October.

Shepherd College

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Tracy L. Seffers of Bristow, Va., has been named registrar at Shepherd College effective Jan. 2, 2003.

Seffers will be responsible for student registration, grades maintenance and record-keeping, class schedule development and data generation and management.
