Ruth A. Sharer

Ruth Alverta Hartman Sharer, 79, of 30 Richmond St., Apt. 6, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aaron W. and Mary Alverta Barlup Hartman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Edward Sharer Jr., in 1991.

She was employed by BPO Elks 378 of Hagerstown.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Sharer; one stepson, Jeffery Sharer of Hagerstown; three sisters, Pearl V. Wagaman of Quincy, Pa., Vera L. Hartman of Chambersburg, Pa. and Naomi M. Carr of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Richard A. Hartman of Greencastle and Edgar C. Hartman of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Phyllis Jean Hartman; one sister, Margaret Hartman; and five brothers, Glenn E. Harman, Galan M. Hartman, Casper E. Hartman, Ralph W. Hartman and Carroll K. Hartman.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Stanley A. Cook

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Stanley A. "Butch" Cook, 65, of 2 Creek Stone Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 13, 1937, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Warren and Gladys Moats Cook.

He was a 1955 graduate of Waynesboro High School and took courses in drafting engineering.

He had been employed by Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro, JLG in McConnellsburg, Pa. and retired as a draftsman in 2000 from Waynesboro Design.

He attended Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church in Five Forks, Pa.

He was a member of McConnellsburg Fire Co., McConnellsburg AARP and National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, June U. Riley Cook, whom he married Nov. 21, 1970; three daughters, Myrna E. Fulcher of Williamsport, Crystal L. Ellenburg of Waynesboro and Katelyn M. Cook of Mont Alto; five sons, Stanley Cook Jr. of Inwood, W.Va., Douglas Frazer of Greencastle, Pa., Davis James Cook of Waynesboro, and William D. Cook and Raphy S. Cook, both of Mont Alto; two sisters, Betty Knepper of Five Forks and Marilyn Smetzer of Leitersburg; one brother, Warren Cook of Gettysburg, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Todd A. Frazer and Gregory Frazer; and one sister, Frances Pentz.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastors Wilbur F. Besecker and Toby M. Mellott will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Dorothy C. Lynard

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Dorothy Coulter "Dot" Lynard, 80, of Shepherdstown, died of congestive heart failure Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at her home.

Born Nov. 4, 1922 in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late David H. and Bernice Bateman Coulter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Lynard, in 1990.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Lerch of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one brother, David Coulter of Charles Town, W.Va.; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith D. Tilley; and one sister, Edith Howard.

There will be no services or visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Florence M. Stansbury

Florence Marie Stansbury, 64, of 20460 Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at her home.

Born Aug. 23, 1938, in Hagers-town, she was the daughter of Marjorie Freeman Campbell of Hagerstown and the late Dr. Edgar Thrall Campbell.

She was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School. In 1960 she earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Smith College.

She operated Crickhollow Farm in Beaver Creek for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Berean Bible Fellowship in State Line, Pa.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Stansbury, whom she married in 1963; one son, RJ Stansbury of Rochester, N.Y.; one sister, Sally of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; one brother, Stephen Campbell of Lima, N.H.; one granddaughter; one grandson and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kris Stansbury.

Services will be Monday at noon at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, Hagerstown. The Rev. Bruce Dick will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
