Harold L. Burgesser Jr.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Harold L. Burgesser Jr., 61, of 4734 Sheely Road, and formerly of Cavetown, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1941, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Harold L. Burgesser Sr. and Sylvina Koons Burgesser of Williamsport.

He was a 1959 graduate of Smithsburg High School.

He was employed by Western Electric, AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies after 37 years of service.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in England and France.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church of Christ in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Eagles Club Inc., Waynesboro; Funkstown American Legion Post 211; and CWA Telephone Pioneers Local 2390.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Carpenter Burgesser; one daughter, Traza B. Chirdon of Hagers-town; one son, Troy H. Burgesser of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Carolyn Verdier of Smithsburg, and Melody Geary of Hagerstown; one brother, John Edgar Burgesser of Frederick, Md.; three grandsons; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Lin Smalec will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gorman L. Hines Jr.

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. - Gorman Luther "Junior" Hines Jr., 54, of 3235 Pine Forest Lane, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.

Born Sept. 19, 1948, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Gorman Luther Hines Sr. and Ruth Jones Hines.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member of American Legion Post 159 and FOE 1136.

He is survived by two sons, Anthony Hines and Kevin Dinges, both of Knoxville; three sisters, Patsy Dickson and Darlene Minnick, both of Knoxville, and Gloria Moore of Brunswick, Md.; and a friend, Sherry McNeive of West Virginia.

Memorial services will be Friday at noon at Brownsville (Md.) Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Dan Johnson will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD 21715.

William J. Nolte Jr.

RICHMOND, Va. - The Rev. William Joseph Nolte Jr., 80, of Richmond, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002.

He served as a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, W.Va., where he served parishes in Wheeling, Farmington, Fairmont and Martinsburg, W.Va. After his retirement, he assisted at St. Ann Catholic Church in Colonial Heights, Va., and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond.

He is survived by two brothers, David G. Nolte of Houston, and Paul H. Nolte of Richmond; two sisters, Sister Doris C. Nolte, O.S.B., of Bristow, Va., and Mary A. Sheehan of Richmond; and 19 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Park Avenue and Laurel Street and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7 p.m. Burial will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Richmond.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, 1503 Michael Road, Richmond, VA 23229.

Irvin K. Bloom

Irvin Keedy Bloom, 94, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Elks Lodge 378 will have a memorial service at 8 p.m.




Robert L. Gibson

BALTIMORE - Robert Lewis Gibson, 59, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at his home.

Born Jan. 9, 1943, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Della Gibson and Augusta Palmer.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Gibson of Hagerstown; one stepson, Larry Wiles Jr. of Hagerstown; and one grandson.

Services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Marches Funeral Home, Baltimore. Burial will be in King Memorial Park, Randallstown, Md.




Joan Winterburn

FENWICK ISLAND, Del. - Joan Winterburn, 71, of Fenwick Island, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at her home.

She was born in Vineland, N.J.

She is survived by her husband, John Winterburn; two daughters, Elyse DeVault and JoAnn Wolber; two stepsons, John Winterburn and Bob Winterburn; one sister, Viola Milano; and eight grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

James D. Greenlees

WILLIAMSPORT - James Duncan Greenlees, 77, of Williamsport, and formerly of Westbury, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.

He was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Westbury.

He was a teacher for 37 years, primarily in East Meadow, N.Y.
