In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepfather, William A. Burger; one brother, Norman E. Benner of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary L. Turner, Nancy L. Rockwell and Rebecca A. Haugh, all of Hagerstown; one great-niece; half brothers and half sisters; and a special friend, Howard Whittington of Smithsburg.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jennifer J. Billman and Patricia Roser.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. Capt. Butch Mallard will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Virgil M. Saville

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Virgil Marshall Saville, 86, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Nov. 14, 1916, in Augusta, W.Va., he was the son of the late Virgil B. and Anna Virginia Wilkins Saville.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW, Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose and the AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Thompson Saville; one son, Virgil M. Saville Jr. of Martinsburg; one daughter, Anna Basch of Perry, Fla.; one sister, Elinor Edwards of Inwood, W.Va.; one half sister, Lila J. Bard of Washington, Pa.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Horner; one brother, Kermit Saville; and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Carol Strickler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Martinsburg Veterans Combined Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Lavon DeLawder

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lavon DeLawder, 58, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at City Hospital.

Born March 3, 1944, in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Velma Boggs Whittaker.

She is survived by her husband, Norman L. DeLawder; two daughters, Victoria L. Phelps and Carol A. Schaper, both of Thurmont, Md.; four brothers, Fred Whittaker of Lapeer, Mich., Edward Whittaker of Fontin, Colo., Douglas Whittaker of Chesapeake, Va., and Mark Whittaker of Kingwood, W.Va.; one sister, Mary L. Walls of Arthurdale, W.Va.; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Whittaker Jr.; one stepbrother, Carl Trippett; and one stepsister, Velva Wilson.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Owen Womack will officiate. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
