Mildred Irene Turner, 44, of 23 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, who died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Washington County Hospital, is also survived by one sister, Susan Turner of Mercersburg, Pa.
Mary J. Mellott
FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Mary Jane Mellott, 76, of 1287 Path Valley Road, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1926, near Welsh Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bruce H. and Helen Beck Garland.
She was a 1944 graduate of the former Mercersburg (Pa.) High School.
She was co-founder of Mellott Manufacturing, Mercersburg. She served as secretary/treasurer for many years. She retired in June 2002.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mercersburg.
She was a member of the National Rifle Association.
She is survived by her husband, Hayes R. Mellott, whom she married March 15, 1947; two daughters, Sue Ausherman of Chambersburg, Pa., and Ann Cushwa of Mercersburg; two sons, Sam Mellott and Dale Mellott, both of Mercersburg; three sisters, Thelma Shelly and Clara M. Smith, both of Mercersburg, and Darlene Mentzer of Baldwin, Md.; one brother, Harold Garland of Mercersburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Julia Carbaugh.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael L. Baughman will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

William G. Johnston
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - William G. "Bill" Johnston, 72, of 7850 Lincoln Way East, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at his home.
Born May 11, 1930, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Rheuben S. and Nancy E. Guthrie Johnston.
His first wife, Natalie E. McCarty Johnston, died Jan. 10, 1998.
He was owner/operator of the former Caledonia Dalmatian Kennels, Fayetteville.
He served in the U.S. Army, with two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea.
He was a member of 187th Airborne R.C.T. Association Rukkasans; 11th Airborne Division; 511 Parachute Infantry Association "Hard Rock" Regiment; Allied Airborne Association; American Legion Post 945, Wormleysburg, Pa.; Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg; 82nd Airborne Division Association; and 101st Airborne Division Association.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hiles Johnston, whom he married Oct. 17, 2002; one son, Terry Eblin of Roseville, Ohio; one daughter, Nannetta K. Pine of Fayetteville; one brother, Robert L. Johnston of Chambersburg; two sisters, Peggy C. Myers of Shippensburg, Pa., and Helen K. Lake of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel H. Kelchner will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

MAUGANSVILLE - Debra Kay Benner, 49, of Village Mill Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at her home.
Born Jan. 26, 1953, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Mildred L. Burger and the late Bruce A. Huntsberger.
She was a 1971 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, and attended the Salvation Army School in Atlanta.
She was employed by Potomac Center, Hagerstown.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
She was a Salvation Army Soldier and a member of the American Business Women's Association.
